Conservation Features Move to Farmers.gov, Conservation Client Gateway Retiring

Recently, several features were added to farmers.gov that help producers manage their conservation activities and request assistance online from USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). These conservation features join several others already available through the farmers.gov portal, including the ability to view farm loan information. As more content and capabilities are added, farmers.gov is quickly becoming the online hub for producers to find resources, submit applications, and request assistance.

Previously, online self-service conservation activities were available through the NRCS Conservation Client Gateway (CCG), and customer access to that portal was retired as functionalities are moved to farmers.gov. Farmers.gov provides producers one convenient place to conduct their business online with NRCS and the Farm Service Agency (FSA).

Current CCG customer users can use their existing eAuthentication login and password to access the conservation features on farmers.gov. Farmers.gov customer-submitted assistance requests and related employee notifications are being integrated with the NRCS Conservation Desktop (CD). NRCS employees may continue to use the CCG employee view of customer pages over the next few months as more detail of customer requests are integrated into CD.

Through farmers.gov, producers can—

  • View, upload, download and e-sign documents;
  • Request conservation assistance;
  • Request financial assistance, including submitting a program application;
  • View and request application details;
  • Reference technical terms and submit questions;
  • Access information on current and past conservation practices;
  • Report practice completion and request practice certification;
  • View detailed information on all previous and ongoing contracts, including the amount of cost share assistance received and anticipated; and
  • Have authority for FSA and NRCS customers to work in the portal and act on behalf of their active power-of-attorney entitlements and their current authorities for business entities.

If a producer does not have login information for farmers.gov, he or she can create a login profile or eAuthentication by following the instructions at farmers.gov/sign-in.

The Conservation Features User Guide gives producers step-by-step instructions on how to navigate farmers.gov and the how-to video instructions and the fact sheet explain some of the popular features. If producers need additional help, personal assistance is available at the farmers.gov Service Desk by selecting the “Help” link located at the top of the all authenticated portal pages and submitting a “Contact Us” request.
