Jacob Dieguez, Hydraulic Engineer

Jacob is a Hydraulic Engineer on the National Water Quality and Quantity Technology Development Team. Currently located in Beltsville, he started his career with NRCS as a Student Career Experience Program participant in 2009 assisting the Southern Maryland regional engineer during semester breaks. After graduating from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2012 (BS Civil Engineering), Jacob joined the Maryland NRCS Engineering staff on a full-time basis. In 2014, he transferred to the Tennessee NRCS State Office as an Agricultural Engineer – working on a team to develop and implement PL-566 watershed dam assessment work within the state through the utilization of HEC-RAS and SITES software.

Jacob returned to Maryland in 2016 as an Agricultural Engineer in the Western Maryland region and joined the state office engineering staff as the Assistant State Conservation Engineer in 2017 where he provided state-level leadership in AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, WinTR-55, WinTR-20 and other engineering field tools.

He serves on the HEC-RAS, EFH-2, SITES/WinDAM, WinTR-55, and WinTR-20 support teams – providing training and technical support.

Away from the office, Jacob is soccer fanatic who dabbles in guitar, photography, carpentry and the ever-present home project.
