Mississippi River Basin Healthy Watersheds Initiative

Priority Areas for FY2019

NRCS has announced the addition of 24 new priority areas in the Mississippi River Basin Healthy Watershed Initiative (MRBI). In addition, 32 existing MRBI projects will continue receiving funding in fiscal year 2019, and water quality assessments will be conducted in 16 of the new priority areas.

Targeted conservation efforts within these areas will further assists states in their nutrient loss reduction strategies to improve basin water quality and reduce the size of the seasonal dead zone in the Gulf of Mexico.
