NRCS to Hold Maryland State Technical Committee Meeting May 2

Annapolis, Md., April 2, 2018- Robert McAfee, Acting Maryland State Conservationist for the USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), today announced that NRCS will hold a meeting of the Maryland State Technical Committee on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.  The meeting will be held at the Maryland NRCS State Office, 339 Busch’s Frontage Rd, Suite 205 in Annapolis.

The meeting will focus on engineering and technical resources, including new and revised conservation practices to help farmers conserve natural resources on their land.

The Maryland State Technical Committee provides recommendations for establishing technical guidelines and program criteria and priorities necessary to carry out conservation provisions of the Farm Bill. The Committee includes members from a wide variety of natural resource and agricultural interests. Chaired by the Maryland NRCS State Conservationist, the Committee is composed of representatives from Federal and State natural resource agencies, agricultural and environmental organizations, and agricultural producers.

The Committee meets bi-annually to provide information, analysis, and recommendations to NRCS management staff. The public is invited to attend the meeting.
