Prime Farmland Map Unit Update - 2020
In 2020, Massachusetts NRCS revisited and revised the farmland criteria for soils in the state. These changes resulted in changes to Farmland Class of some soil map units. Get the details here.
Soil scientists with the National Cooperative Soil Survey (NCSS) are continually updating and improving the soil survey data. These improvements are published as a soil survey data refresh made publicly available on an annual basis.

New mapping of subaqueous or underwater soils in two coastal ponds on Martha’s Vineyard.

Coastal Zone Soil Survey Work Planning Conference - January 2018 - Savannah, GA
The Coastal Zone Soil Survey is an effort to update and map the soils along the coast and beneath shallow water. A work planning conference is being held in Georgia to plan soil survey priorities in the coastal zone.
