Increasing Farm Bill Participation and Benefits RCPP Project

Introduction

In Fiscal Year (FY) 2017, a Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP) project entitled “Increasing Farm Bill Participation and Benefits” was submitted by the University of Kentucky (UK).

Collaborating partners include the Kentucky Division of Forestry (KDF) and the USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS).  The 5-year project was approved in FY 2017, and will utilize close to $300,000 in financial assistance in FY 2018-2020 through the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP).

The project’s primary goal is to train service requests for Forest Management Plans in the Northeast and Central KDF regions where requests for forestry technical assistance is high.  UK and KDF will train additional Technical Service Providers (TSP) who will obtain TSP certification through NRCS to write Forest Management Plans.  Forest Management Plans will be funded for applicants through a special RCPP-EQIP sign-up for this RCPP agreement.
