Surface to Springs

Florida is home to spectacular freshwater springs. They reflect the health of the Floridan Aquifer, which serves as the state's main drinking water source, an aquatic species lifeline, and an economic driver for the region. The Surface to Springs project focuses on the Suwannee and Santa Fe watersheds. Alachua Conservation Trust and its partners will work with private property owners to protect working farms, timberlands, and natural areas through conservation easements. Technical conservation assistance will help connect landowners with the tools, resources, and restoration strategies to benefit Florida’s drinking water and wildlife habitat for native species.
