Application deadline extended to Sept. 30

GAINESVILLE, Fla., May 27, 2021 — Agricultural producers in Long Pond Slough watershed in Levy County can apply for financial assistance to improve water quality until Sept. 30 from USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). The deadline for application has been extended from May 31.

The funding is to help farmers and ranchers use conservation practices to reduce nutrient and sediment runoff, such as improving fertilizer application, planting cover crops, fencing cattle out of streams, and planting grass filter strips. Applicants must have control of land and follow the highly erodible land and wetland conservation provisions.
