Project Description:
The United States Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), with the project sponsor Colorado Open Lands is proposing to fund through the Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP) utilizing Environmental Quality Incentive Program (EQIP) funds, rules and regulations the Colorado Open Lands Acequia Conservation Initiative in Costilla County.

The Acequia RCPP will bring acequia landowners and a variety of resource partners together to place conservation easements on acequia properties to protect and secure senior water rights, prime soils, native habitat and the areas agricultural heritage. The project will also employ a suite of conservation practices through the EQIP program targeting acequia farmers specifically.
