DAVIS, Calif., Sept. 15, 2015—The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in California will hold the next State Technical Advisory Committee (STAC) meeting on Oct. 6, 2015, to discuss Fiscal Year 2016 priorities for Farm Bill conservation programs. The meeting will be held at the Odd Fellows Hall in Davis from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The STAC provides recommendations to State Conservationist Carlos Suarez on implementation of NRCS conservation programs in California. Those interested in conservation on private lands are welcome to attend.

“California has a wide range of natural resource priorities in need of conservation planning, technical support and Farm Bill funding assistance,” said Suarez. “Input from attendees is critical to help us prioritize conservation needs in 2016.”

The meeting’s agenda includes the following:

  • Recommending state resource priorities
  • Timelines for 2016 conservation program signups
  • Review of 2015 initiatives, funding levels and contracts
  • Review of 2015 locally-led EQIP funding allocations
  • Ongoing discussion on the implementation of the 2014 Farm Bill
  • And many more topics

The Odd Fellows Hall in Davis is located at 415 2nd Street. For more information on the meeting, contact Alan Forkey at (530) 792-5653. For more information on NRCS programs, visit www.ca.nrcs.usda.gov.

Since its inception in 1935, NRCS has worked in partnership with private landowners and a variety of local, state and federal conservation partners to deliver conservation based on specific, local needs.
