Earth Team Volunteer Spotlight | Peace Dunu

Peace Dunu volunteers in our NRCS Huntsville Field Office. The Huntsville Field Office staff would like to honor our most ardent Earth Team Volunteer, Mrs. Peace Dunu.  She started volunteering with us in April 2017.  She just came right in on that very first day with a “how can I be of help” attitude.  She is a lady who just must always have busy hands to accomplish all that she does.

Whether the opportunity is filing, helping to rearrange a supply room or sorting education workshop supplies, Mrs. Dunu always tackles the job as if it were the most important project in the world at that time.  She is always thorough with any task and takes it to the very end.

Peace is from Nigeria and is the mother of two sons; Ify and Zikky.  She is married to Dr. Emeka Dunu. She earned an MBA from Alabama A&M University where she got interested in Environmental Pollution and Climate Change. This propelled her to enroll in a doctoral program. She is now completing her PhD Dissertation on the topic “Variability of Soil Carbon Dioxide Efflux in a Decatur Silt Loam Soil Under Different Tillage Systems”.

Mrs. Dunu has stated that she always feels renewed when she spends some time in this office and looks forward to her next time in.  When she leaves, we really miss her energy and enthusiasm.

Even with all of her vast education and knowledge, she is one of the most down to earth and genuine Christian ladies that it has been my privilege to meet and work with.  She is such a joy to know. The time passes quickly when you work with Peace.  The gift of her friendship is such a treasure.

She is pictured holding some of the items that she helped to create for one of our AG Tours.  She patiently painted the designs on 70 of those cotton sacks so that each attendee could take home a token of their visit.  The burlap boxes with seeds on the sides, were used as table decorations and then were given as door prizes.
