Watershed Resources
Rapid Watershed Assessments (by 8-digit Hydrologic Unit Sub-basin)
The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Arizona, in partnership with the University of Arizona Water Resources Research Center, has completed Rapid Watershed Assessments (RWAs) of several priority watersheds in the state. The RWAs incorporate existing information, along with new data contributed by our partners, to produce a profile of the watershed and an assessment of conservation status and needs.
RWA reports contain narratives, tables, and GIS-based maps organized into the following sections:
- Introduction
- Physical Description of the Watershed
- Resource Concerns & Conservation Progress/Status
- Census, Social & Agricultural Data
- Resource Assessment Tables of Future Conservation Needs
- Figures (Maps)
RWAs provide a foundation of resource information for Coordinated Resource Management and are a valuable tool to assist the NRCS, Conservation Districts, and cooperating agencies with setting resource priorities and developing and implementing conservation plans across the watershed.
Cooperating agencies and organizations include: Arizona Association of Conservation Districts; Arizona Department of Agriculture; Arizona Department of Environmental Quality; Arizona Department of Water Resources; Arizona Game and Fish Department; Arizona State Land Department; USDA Forest Service; and USDI Bureau of Land Management.
