Information About Air

Issues relating to agricultural emissions, carbon sequestration and production of crops for alternative bio-based fuels.

  • NRCS Air Quality
The NRCS air quality team is a group of scientists, located at various sites across the country, who work to include air quality concerns in NRCS programs and operations.

  • Agricultural Air Quality Task Force
The Agricultural Air Quality Task Force has been created in accordance with Section 391 of the Federal Agriculture Improvement and Reform (FAIR) Act of 1996, which directs the Chief of the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), and agency of the United States Department of Agriculture, to establish a task force to address agricultural air quality issues.

  • Ecological Climatology
The NRCS Ecological Climatology program focuses on the influence of the earth's atmosphere on agricultural production. The user will find links to NRCS documents and other resources related to climatology, especially those concerned with air quality and climate change, two areas of particular interest to the agency.

  • Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) - Air Quality Division
The division ensures the safety and quality of the air in Arizona by monitoring and analyzing air quality data, regulating sources of air pollution, and working with other state, local, and federal agencies to plan and implement strategies to protect Arizona's future air quality.

  • U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) - Arizona Air Quality
Current air quality maps, animations, forecasts, and state and local Web sites provided by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

  • U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) - Green Book
This web page identifies areas of the country where air pollution levels persistently exceed the national ambient air quality standards may be designated "non-attainment."

  • Phoenix Region Visibility Web Cameras
Visibility is a measure of how the air looks. It is usually described as the maximum distance that a dark object can be perceived against the background sky. Visibility can also refer to the clarity of objects in the distance, middle, or foreground. Visibility is unique among air pollution effects because it involves human perception and judgment. The typical visual range in the western U.S. is 60 to 90 miles. This page provides an overview of all Phoenix Visibility Web Cameras. In addition, near real-time air quality data provide visibility and meteorological information to the public.

  • The Agricultural Consultation and Training (ACT) program
The Agricultural Consultation and Training program (ACT) offers a compliance assistance program for commercial farmers to ensure compliance with laws and rules that address air quality standards within the Maricopa County PM10 non-attainment area. The site also links you to the Arizona Department of Agriculture.
