The South Dakota NRCS Engineering staff is comprised of agricultural and civil engineers, and civil engineering technicians that provide innovative, economical, and timely services to NRCS staff, conservation partners and private landowners. We provide planning, design, and construction services to solve problems related to soil erosion, water quality and quantity, agricultural waste management, and wetland restoration. Common types of engineering projects include livestock pipeline systems, irrigation systems, grassed waterways, terraces, agricultural waste management systems, streambank stabilization, and ponds.
We invite you to contact your local NRCS service center to begin the planning process of solving your conservation engineering issues.
Technical documents, standard drawings, and design tools for conservation engineering practices can be found in Section 1 of the South Dakota Field Office Technical Guide. Conservation practice standards, documentation requirements, operation and maintenance requirements, and construction specifications can be found in Section 4 of the South Dakota Field Office Technical Guide.
