Mott, N.D. - The Slope-Hettinger Soil Conservation District (SCD) recently held two locally led conservation input meetings in Mott and New England, gathering valuable feedback from community members on conservation priorities.
The meetings were organized by Kerstan Cole, Slope-Hettinger SCD manager, who spearheaded the effort to engage local voices in identifying resource concerns, education opportunities, and potential district services. Hannah Nordby, Area V Program Coordinator, facilitated the discussions, encouraging attendees to share their insights.
Representing the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Ryan Pietrzyk, NRCS Soil Conservationist, and Darrin Olin, NRCS District Conservationist attended the meetings to support the process.
“These sessions provided great input,” said Olin. “It’s encouraging to see the district revisit the locally led conservation process to shape its future efforts.”
The meetings underscored the importance of collaboration between SCDs, NRCS, and local stakeholders in addressing conservation challenges and opportunities in the region.
