NRCS Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) Enhancement Summary
California
NRCS's natural resources conservation programs help people reduce soil erosion,
enhance water supplies, improve water quality, increase wildlife habitat, and reduce
damages caused by floods and other natural disasters. Public benefits include enhanced
natural resources that help sustain agricultural productivity and environmental quality
while supporting continued economic development, recreation, and scenic beauty.
Before fiscal year 2021, enhancements were funded only through the Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP). In contracts signed in fiscal year 2021, in selected states, enhancements could be included in EQIP Conservation Incentive Contracts (EQIP-CIC). The first EQIP-CIC enhancements, contracted in fiscal year 2021, were applied and certified in fiscal year 2022. EQIP-CIC contracts are available nation-wide beginning in fiscal year 2022.
