State Technical Committees (STC) serve in an advisory capacity to the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and other agencies of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) on the implementation of the natural resources conservation provisions of Farm Bill legislation. Committees are intended to include members from a wide variety of natural resources and agricultural interests.
The Soils Subcommittee to the STC provides information, analysis, and recommendations for on-going and future soil inventory related needs in New York, as well as special or emerging soil related topics such as soil health.
The STC and subcommittees meet regularly, and NRCS strongly considers advice received. Individuals or groups wanting to participate as members on a State Technical Committee or Subcommittee may submit requests to State Conservationist explaining their interest and relevant credentials. For more information on the STC, please contact Alana Covington, Assistant State Conservationist for Partnerships, at alana.covington@usda.gov. To participate in the Soils Subcommittee meeting, please contact Daniel Ufnar, State Soil Scientist.
