The Montana Soil Health Symposium and the pre-conference workshop is hosted by the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service and the Montana Association of Conservation Districts. It brings together national and local speakers to discuss soil health techniques and innovations.

Ranching for Profit Workshop with Dallas Mount

The pre-conference workshop will happen the day before the main Montana Soil Health Symposium.

The pre-conference workshop is the afternoon of Tuesday, February 4, 2025, while the symposium runs from the morning of February 5 through lunch on February 6.

Dallas Mount of Ranching for Profit will lead this one-day workshop, helping participants to think differently about their ranching operations. This workshop will clarify the distinction between working in the business versus working on the business, guiding participants from managing assets to running a successful enterprise. Dallas will also cover the three secrets to increasing profit and essential financial indicators for effective management. Participants will also learn the difference between economics and finance and how both impact the financial health of their operations. Additionally, the session will explore leveraging good grazing practices to align ranching strategies with the environment, ultimately boosting profitability.
