USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service in Wyoming is hosting an Environmental Assessment Public Comment Meeting to discuss the Shoshone River Watershed Proposed Project.

The United States Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service (USDA-NRCS) has completed an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Shoshone River Watershed Project (proposed project) sponsored by the Heart Mountain Irrigation District (HMID) to pipe and pressurize 9.7 miles of open laterals including installing 9.6 miles of 12-inch to 63-inch high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe along Laterals H65, H89, and R4S, and replacing approximately 1.0-mile (5,331 feet) of existing non-pressurized pipe on the eastern end of H89 with pressurized pipe. The purpose of the Proposed Project is to enclose and modernize agricultural water management facilities to address water losses associated with seepage, irrigation water management and delivery inefficiency, degraded agricultural tailwater quality effects to the Shoshone River Watershed, and to improve public safety. The Proposed Project would be funded through the Watershed Protection and Flood Prevention Act (Public Law [PL] 83-566).
NRCS will hold a public comment meeting as part of the EA process to provide information and collect public comments on the EA. The public is invited to attend the comment meeting to learn more, ask questions, and submit comments. The meeting date, time, and location are listed as:
