East Hawaiʻi Farmers, Producers Invited to Local Working Group Meeting
Registration
Please RSVP by Friday, Aug. 23.
The East Hawaiʻi Soil and Water Conservation Districts invite the public to participate in a Local Working Group meeting August 27, 3-6 p.m. at the Hilo Federal Building, Room 328, 154 Waiānuenue Avenue, Hilo, Hawaiʻi.
Representatives from the East Hawaiʻi SWCDs of Hāmākua, Waiākea, Puna and Ka‘u will facilitate the meeting. The Local Working Group is a locally led initiative supported by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service in the Pacific Islands Area and serves an essential role in the community. East Hawaiʻi SWCDs and the NRCS Hilo Service Center will gather input from members of the local agricultural community to identify current conditions of East Hawaii’s natural resources and dominant land uses to set priorities for fiscal year 2025 conservation plans and projects addressing agriculture and natural resource issues in East Hawaiʻi.
Participation is open to all interested persons, including agricultural producers, owners and operators of nonindustrial private forest land, professionals representing agricultural and natural resource interests, and individuals representing disciplines in soil, water, wetland, plant, forestry and wildlife sciences.
To help us better understand the priorities and needs of local farmers, please complete a survey by Monday, Aug. 26.
The event is free, but seating is limited. Please RSVP by Friday, Aug. 23. After the maximum seating capacity is reached, a Microsoft Teams meeting link will be sent via e-mail to allow virtual participation. Light refreshments will be provided.
