Florida USDA NRCS Announces Office Closures Ahead of Hurricane Helene

Local offices to close between noon and 2p.m. today and reopen Friday, pending local conditions

NRCS announces several Florida office closures in anticipation of approaching Tropical Storm Helene which is predicted to reach Florida as a Hurricane Thursday morning.

Hurricane Helene Update:

As of October 1, all NRCS Florida Field Offices are open. Find your local NRCS office

 


GAINESVILLE, Florida, September 25, 2024 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) announces the following NRCS offices will close today (Wednesday, September 25) by 2 p.m., in anticipation of approaching Tropical Storm Helene which is predicted to reach Florida as a Hurricane Thursday morning.

  • Blountstown
  • Bonifay
  • Gainesville (Field and State Office)
  • Lake City (Field and Area Office)
  • Live Oak
  • Madison
  • Marianna (Field and Area Office)
  • Monticello
  • Ocala
  • Palmetto Area Office
  • Plant City
  • Quincy
  • Sarasota
  • Tavares
  • Trenton

New office closures added at 10:45 a.m. (EST), Thursday, September 26:

  • Kissimmee
  • Royal Palm Beach (Area and Field Office)
  • Wauchula

Please contact your local USDA Service Center before visiting a local office to ensure it is open.

NRCS will reopen offices on Friday, pending local conditions. Office closures may be added or changed based on the changing trajectory of the storm and local emergency mandates. After the storm, please call ahead before visiting a local office to ensure it is open.


New office closures added 3:20 p.m. (EST), Wednesday, September 25:

  • Brooksville (Field Office and Plant Materials Center)

New office closures added 8:30 a.m., Thursday, September 26:

  • Ft. Myers
  • Ft. Pierce
  • Okeechobee
  • Sebring

New office closure added 9 a.m. (EST), Thursday, September 26:

  • Defuniak Springs

Office Closure Update: As of 2:10 p.m. (ET), September 27, 2024, the following NRCS offices remain closed: 

Baldwin, Bonifay, Gainesville (Field and State Office), Lake City (Field and Area Office),
Live Oak, Madison, Marianna (Field and Area Office), Monticello, Ocala, Palatka, Trenton, and Quincy. 

Office Closure Update:  Sept. 30, 2024

Currently, only the Monticello NRCS field office is closed. All other offices are open.
