USDA Helps Restore, Manage Longleaf Pine Forests on Private Lands

USDA-NRCS has announced $10.6 million in funding available to aid forest managers working to restore longleaf ecosystems on private lands in nine states. Alabama will receive $2.6 million in funding.

J.B. Turner Named Alabama NRCS 2016 Small Farmer of the Year

Mr. J.B. Turner of Harvest, Alabama has been named the Alabama Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) 2016 Small Farmer of the Year. An award plaque and an engraved clock were presented to Mr. Turner at the Federation of Southern Cooperative’s 48th Annual Meeting in Epes, AL.

Ben Malone named New State Conservationist for Alabama

USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Chief Jason Weller today announced that Ben Malone of McCalla, Ala. will begin serving as Alabama’s State Conservationist on Monday, October 5, 2015.
