The Montana Association of Conservation Districts (MACD) is offering another year of Irrigation Water Management (IWM) Service in conjunction with the NRCS Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP.) It is an open enrollment, but no refunds will be given after June 15th.
IWM is the practice of monitoring and managing the rate, volume, and timing of water application according to the seasonal crop needs, giving consideration to the soil intake and water holding capacities. Irrigation Water Management will help irrigators determine the effectiveness of irrigation practices, make good water management decisions, and justify making irrigation adjustment in existing systems.
Landowners and entities interested in using conservation easements to address natural resource concerns can submit applications at any time to a USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service office. Applications must be submitted by May 15, 2015 to be considered for fiscal year 2015 ACEP funding. Though signup is continuous, funding selections are made at specific times during the fiscal year.
