State Technical Committee

The Secretary of the U.S. Department of Agriculture is required to establish a technical committee in each state to assist in technical considerations and to develop technical guidelines necessary to implement conservation provisions of farm legislation. The NRCS State Conservationist has been designated the responsibility to chair the committee.

The State Technical Committee provides advice on a number of issues within a variety of conservation programs. Although State Technical Committees have no implementation or enforcement authority, USDA shall give strong consideration to the Committee's recommendations.

State Technical Committees are composed of individuals who represent a variety of natural resource sciences and occupations such as soil, water, air, plants, wetlands, and wildlife.
