Shipley's Animal Waste Retention Ponds

 Goshen County, Wyoming

Torrington Field Office

Mel and Mark Shipley have an animal feeding operation where they feed up to 999 feeder calves. Their feedlot is located southwest of Lingle, Wyoming.  Three retention ponds were constructed to contain wastewater runoff from the facility during a 25 yr. - 24 hr. storm event.  The ponds are 60 ft. x 205 ft and were designed to contain 2 feet of waste storage.  The ponds were over-excavated and clay liner was installed.
