Longleaf Pine Initiative
Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP)
Virginia is one of nine states receiving NRCS funding to help private landowners restore and manage longleaf pine in FY 2016. Approved participants in the Virginia cities and counties listed below (view map) will receive financial assistance for implementing conservation practices including site preparation, planting longleaf pine, installing firebreaks, conducting prescribed burning, and controlling invasive plants. Contact your local Service Center for further guidelines and program details. Applications received by close of business on April 15, 2016, will be reviewed for program eligibility,* and, if eligible, will be screened, and ranked in order of Priority. Another signup deadline of May 20 (and the third Friday of following months) may be added if all funds are not obligated in April.
*Applications from participants who are not eligible, as determined by NRCS, as of close of business on April 15, 2016, will not be screened or ranked until their eligibility has been verified by NRCS. Applications assigned a Low Priority, based on Virginia's Prescreening Worksheet, will not be ranked or considered for funding until all eligible applications with a higher priority, that address an eligible resource concern have been ranked and considered for funding.
