Longleaf Pine Initiative

Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP)

Virginia is one of nine states receiving NRCS funding to help private landowners restore and manage longleaf pine in FY 2014. Approved participants in the Virginia cities and counties listed below (view map) will receive financial assistance for implementing conservation practices including site preparation, planting longleaf pine, installing firebreaks, conducting prescribed burning, and controlling invasive plants. Contact your local Service Center for further guidelines and program details. Ranking Periods

Applications for financial assistance are accepted year-round. NRCS has established four ranking periods for FY2014:

Ranking Period 1: Forestry Applications received by close of business on November 15, 2013
Ranking Period 2: All Applications received by close of business on December 20, 2013
Ranking Period 3: All Applications received by close of business on January 17, 2014
Ranking Period 4: All Applications received by close of business on February 21, 2014
Ranking Period 5: All Applications received by close of business on March 21, 2014
