The Okolona series consists of deep, well drained very slowly permeable soils in uplands of the Blackland Prairie Major Land Resource Area. These are nearly level to gently sloping soils that formed in calcareous clayey material that is underlain by marly clay and chalk. These soils have very high shrink-swell potential. Slopes range from 0 to 5 percent.
