Per section 1446 of the 1990 Farm Bill, the Tennessee USDA established a State Technical Advisory Committee to provide advice for technical considerations and technical guidelines necessary to implement conservation provisions of USDA legislation. The NRCS State Conservationist chairs the committee.

Additionally, the State Technical Advisory Committee provides recommendations on a number of issues within a variety of USDA conservation programs. Although the State Technical Advisory Committee has no implementation or enforcement authority, USDA gives consideration to the Committee's recommendations.

Tennessee's State Technical Advisory Committee is composed of individuals and groups who represent a diverse group with interests in a variety of natural resource sciences and occupations, including:

  • Soil
  • Water
  • Air
  • Plants
  • Wetlands
  • Wildlife
  • Agricultural Community
  • Environmental Community
