Big Conservation

This year's NACD Northeast Regional Meeting is one you don't want to miss!  It is located in world famous Newport, RI, boasting of historical, cultural, and natural beauty that is sure to please every taste.

The Marriott Hotel is located in scenic and active downtown Newport.  It is within easy walking distance to multiple restaurants, the Newport Water Taxi, and other land and water activities.  The International Tennis Hall of Fame, Mansion Tours, the gorgeous Cliff Walk and Newport Grand Gambling and Sports Club are very close by.  For more information on registration, agendas, tourism opportunities, and general information: visit the RIACD Web site .

Conservation is foremost on our minds and meeting dates are full - but not to worry, you can still enjoy the area - we have negotiated a special discount rate for several days before or after the focal meeting dates, just ask for extended dates when you make your reservation.

Some of the highlights of the Northeast Meeting include an emphasis on soil health, educational breakout sessions, and demonstration tours including:

1.   Aquaculture: Conservation practices on one of New England’s original Oyster Farms, owned by Perry Raso. The tour will also visit his land farm that supports his restaurant.

2.   Forestry:  Enhancing wildlife habitat, managing invasive species, and the Rhode Island Conservation Districts’ role in increasing the enrollment of woodland owners in NRCS Programs.

3.   Fish Ladder and Vineyards:  NRCS Fish ladder, Newport Vineyard Conservation practices, and wetland restoration.

See you in Newport!
