Nutrient Management

Nutrient Management Publications and Tools

Nutrient management is plan that uses conservation practices to manage the application of nutrients. The objective of a nutrient management plan is to provide plants with the nutrients they need for favorable crop yields, while minimizing surface water runoff and groundwater contamination. The Plant Materials program develops plants and technology to enhance the use of cover crops, vegetative buffers, riparian buffers, and other practices for landowners to use in conservation practices to control nutrients.
