Grassy Slough WRP Wetland
The Grassy Slough Wildlife Management Area is located in the southeastern
corner of Oklahoma, near Idabel. 1,014.5 acres are within the area's boundaries.
offers habitat consisting of Moist-Soil Wetlands, Emergent marshes, Shrub/Scrub
Swamp, Micro topography/Depressions, Deep Open Water, Riparian Forest,
Bottomland Hardwoods, and Spring Seeps. With such habitat diversity numerous
species can be found at the area.
On April 24, 2002, a Bayou Clubtail Dragonfly was caught and photographed by
Steve Barner, NRCS, and David Arbour, ODWC, at the Grassy Slough WRP Wetland.
This species had never been recorded in Oklahoma before.
Go south from Idabel on Highway 259 for approximately 11 miles; the entrance
is via a county road that exits to the east from Highway 259. The entrance for
this site lays in, Section 12 – T9S – R24E.
