The Oklahoma WMA Data Viewer provides maps to Internet users via technology
called an Internet Mapping Server, or IMS. The IMS is basically a computer
that displays a map made up from individual data layers. These layers come
from a variety of sources including satellite imagery, aerial
photographs, or others created by governmental agencies. Altogether, the
IMS has more than 150 individual data layers that can be displayed over the
Internet for you to view and/or print. Anyone with an internet connection can
use this mapping service, great for schools, libraries, local
and state governments.
WIMS is an Internet based map server that enables the user to create their own
custom maps by selecting an area of interest and map layers to display. Layers
available include Oklahoma water resources, political boundaries, geology and aerial images. A supported Web browser is all that
is needed to use WIMS.
