Ohio Earth Team Volunteers are making a real difference every day. The following stories outline just a few of our volunteers. Are you ready to join the Earth Team?
An Earth Team Astronaut on Spaceship Earth - Ohio is a happening place, but signing up a foreigner for the Earth Team Program doesn’t happen every day. While visiting an Ohio livestock farm, Ukrainian Mark Khasyanov signed up to be an Earth Team volunteer to see farming and conservation throughout the county.
Utilizing Volunteers to Plant People's Garden on Earth Day - Engaging a group of preschoolers during a lesson on conservation is no small feat. But, organizers and participants of this year’s Earth Day People’s Garden Planting event knew just the trick to catch the students’ attention. They enlisted the help of “Pete” the potato.
Earth Team Volunteers’ Walkabout Experience - As an avid bee enthusiast, Graham School senior Chris Cree likes the natural sciences, like biology and industries rooted in nature, and like agriculture. A family friend knew about NRCS and contacted the State Earth Team Coordinator. Soon after, Chris became a Earth Team student volunteer.
Volunteering Through the Camera’s Lens - Graduate student Alex Snyder is an Ohio Earth Team volunteer who finds inspiration through the lens of his camera. While completing his graduate degree at Ohio University's Office of Sustainability, Alex found time to volunteer his photographic talents by capturing Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack’s visits to Ohio.
