Conservation Technical Assistance (CTA) in New Jersey
In February 2005 NRCS announced a new comprehensive policy for operating the Conservation Technical Assistance Program (CTA). CTA is the foundation of the on-the-ground conservation assistance that NRCS provides to customers. Through CTA, NRCS helps people voluntarily conserve, improve and sustain natural resources on their land. CTA policy establishes national priorities for the program that focus on helping producers comply more easily with environmental regulatory burdens.
Conservation Plan - A Basic Tool for Landowners
Most of the assistance NRCS provides is accomplished through the Conservation Technical Assistance Program (CTA). When we’re working with landowners, we usually provide planning assistance through the development of a Conservation Plan. After soil, water, air, plant and animal resources on the property are inventoried and evaluated, the NRCS Soil Conservationist will review several alternatives for the landowner's consideration. The alternatives the landowner chooses to implement are recorded in the conservation plan. This written plan becomes a primary tool for better management of the natural resources on the property and can be used to direct the landowner to available programs, such as the Farm Bill Programs, designed to help implement conservation on private lands.
