The Conservation Innovation Grant program (CIG) is a voluntary program administered by NRCS to stimulate the development and adoption of innovative conservation approaches and technologies. Federal investment in environmental enhancement and protection is leveraged in conjunction with agricultural production.
Under CIG, Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) funds are used to award competitive grants to non-Federal governmental or non-governmental organizations, Tribes, or individuals. The grants require a 50-50 match between the agency and the applicant.
CIG is offered as both a nationwide and a state program.
New Jersey announces funding opportunities for the state component of CIG on Grants.gov once a year after the national CIG component is announced. The CIG State Component offers eligible entities the opportunity to apply for grants up to $75,000 for eligible projects within the state. Interested applicants may review the prior year funded projects and proposal requirements to get an idea of the types of projects funded.
