The Hispanic Emphasis Program Manager is responsible for assuring that persons of Hispanic origin have an equal opportunity to compete for Federal employment and promotions. Hispanics are persons of Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban, Central or South American, or other Spanish culture or origin, regardless of race. In order to be considered Hispanic, a person must have at least 1/4 of their ancestry from a Spanish culture listed above.
The program seeks to:
Identify and remove barriers that prevent Hispanics from being hired.
Analyze the current workforce, inform NRCS management about under-representation of Hispanics, and develop strategies to increase Hispanic representation.
Identify and work with schools that have large Hispanic student populations.
Ensure that all Hispanics receive equal training opportunities.
Ensure that Hispanics are equally represented in all NRCS job categories in National Headquarters, Regions, States, Centers and Institutes.
