I grew up on a farm in Knox County. I began with the Soil Conservation Service in 1984 as a student trainee. In 1985 I graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agronomy and Agricultural Economics. I worked as a Soil Conservationist in Stanton and later as a District Conservationist in St. James, Minnesota. In 1990, I became the District Conservationist for the Lower Niobrara NRD in Butte, Nebraska. In 2010 I was also assigned as District Conservationist for the Upper Elkhorn NRD.
Water sampling, chemigation permits, nitrogen Best Management Practices, demonstration projects on center pivots using various fertilizer rates, irrigation water management, static water levels and groundwater monitoring wells, and static water levels on wells throughout the district.
Increase awareness of BMP's relating to range practices and promote planting of marginal cropland back to grass.
Seek alternative funding (grants) for general NRD operation and programs.
