Last year, USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) obligated nearly $2.1 million toward forestry and wildlife conservation practices in North Carolina, and demand is growing for these practices. As a result, NRCS is seeking candidates to become certified Technical Service Providers (TSPs) to help North Carolina landowners achieve their forestry conservation goals by developing Prescribed Burn and Forestry Management Conservation Activity Plans (CAPS).

NRCS provides financial assistance through the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) to eligible producers to develop a CAP. A CAP can be developed for landowners to identify conservation practices needed to address resource concerns that are unique to land use types, such as forestry. The Prescribed Burn CAP is developed off existing needs identified in a Forestry Management CAP.
