Plant Fact Sheets & Plant Guides Coordination

Plant Fact Sheets and Guides are a coordinated effort between the Plant Materials Program and the National Plant Data Center, with input from other cooperating organizations. For more information on this effort, contact Jeremy West, National Plant Materials Center at jeremy.west@md.usda.gov, 301-504-8175 or Gerry Moore, National Plant Data Center at gerry.moore@gnb.usda.gov, 336-370-3337.

What is the difference between Plant Fact Sheets and Plant Guides?

Fact Sheets are one page (front and back) species overviews, include color photos, and are often used to provide general information about a conservation species to a landowner. Plant Guides contain more detail and typically describe the entire process of establishment, management, and production of a species; they can be several pages long. Guides may also contain details on seed or plant production for growers.
