Technical Soil Services (NRCS-NEDC-000249)

Overview

This training will provide soil scientists with skills needed to promote the use, understanding, and application of soil information to other disciplines and land use decision-makers. This course is delivered via instructor-led, web-based distance learning.

Objectives

The overall learning objectives are that at the end of the session participants will be able to:

  1. Develop work plans based on assessments of the needs in the assigned area;
  2. Provide technical soil services to internal and external customers;
  3. Provide training to users of soil information; and
  4. Provide outreach in the form of education and marketing activities to potential users of soil survey information.

 

Format

The course will be presented via DL (distance learning) using Adobe Connect Pro. Audio will be by teleconference or through the computer. Connection information will be provided to participants. No travel involved. Course must be “attended” on an individual basis, one computer-one person. Pre and post course testing for measurement of learning will be done through Aglearn or other web-based means. Instructions will be provided to participants.

Target Audience

State Office and Area/Resource Soil Scientists, and other soil scientists at the GS-09 through GS-13 levels who are or will be responsible for delivering Technical Soil Services.
