This training will provide soil scientists with skills needed to perform advanced soil survey data entry and management using the NASIS software. The course content is determined by the participants needs. The content of the course is ascertained from the participant before and during the course. Little formal instruction is presented. This is a hands-on course with the participant working on their soil survey area.
Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:
Proficiently perform NASIS software interface navigation and operation procedures.
Understand NASIS data concepts.
Understand fully the database structure and content.
Perform soil survey data population and management using all conventions.
Be able to select the most efficient edit feature for the particular task at hand.
Understand the strengths and weaknesses of the calculations and when they should and shouldn’t be used.
Proficiently use the validations as a edit tool.
National Cooperative Soil Survey soil scientists who have a need to use NASIS extensively to produce a soil survey.

NASIS Getting Started.
NASIS Data Structure Diagrams.
An X-Terminal or equivalent emulator (Hummingbird) which is connected to a NASIS system and capable of running NASIS.
