Areawide Conservation Planning (000092)

Overview

This course follows the procedures and guidelines set forth in the National Planning Procedures Handbook for areawide conservation planning. It emphasizes locally led conservation, working with people, and the planning process. It uses a case study to demonstrate techniques and dynamics of areawide conservation planning. This course will help NRCS and the conservation partnership meet local community needs for areawide conservation planning.

Objectives

Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the different roles NRCS could perform in areawide conservation planning;
  • Understand the importance of effective interpersonal skills when working with diverse groups;
  • Apply the 3 phase, 9 step planning process to areawide conservation planning; and
  • Identify key activities and tasks to consider in carrying out areawide conservation planning.

Prerequisites

Part 1 of the Conservation Planning Course or equivalent experience.

All NRCS employees and the conservation partnership who have a need to increase their expertise in areawide conservation planning.
