Setting a New Cultural Paradigm Managing Correspondence
On May 15, 1862, President Abraham Lincoln signed legislation establishing the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). More than 2 years later, in his final message to Congress, Lincoln called USDA the "People's Department," praising the Department for rapidly moving in "the great and vital interest it was created to advance." In that spirit, we are proud to help citizens connect with the People’s Department. We know that most Americans interact with their Government through correspondence. That is why we strive to make sure that correspondence is answered clearly, accurately, and quickly.
The Executive Correspondence Management Team (ECMT) strives to be an example of public service professionalism and efficiency that contributes to NRCS conservation programs and expertise supporting the American people every day, in every way, by helping make Government more transparent, accountable, and collaborative—one letter and one person at a time.
ECMT strives to be a correspondence role model and to be recognized as a dynamic, competent team of highly skilled individuals who provide high quality correspondence management that is integral to USDA, Office of the Chief, and the Public Affairs Division.
