2010 Cowardin Wetlands and Deepwater Habitats

In 2010, Montana had approximately 2249.7 thousand acres of Cowardin wetlands and deepwater habitats on water areas and non-federal land. Of this total, 55.2% percent was classified as palustrine, 32.8 percent lacustrine, and 12.1 percent riverine. Palustrine wetlands cover about 2% of the water and non-Federal lands in Montana.
