2009 Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP)
The Food, Conservation, and Energy Act of 2008 (2008 Farm Bill) replaces the Conservation Security Program with the new Conservation Stewardship Program for fiscal years 2009 through 2017.
The Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) is a voluntary conservation program that encourages producers to address resource concerns in a comprehensive manner by undertaking additional conservation activities and improving, maintaining, and managing existing conservation activities.
CSP is available on Tribal and private agricultural lands in all 50 States and the Caribbean and Pacific Islands Areas. The program provides equitable access to all producers, regardless of operation size, crops produced, or geographic location.
Montana Priority Resource Concerns for CSP
Montana CSP Geographic Areas
Geographic Areas in Montana were designated with input from the State Technical Advisory Committee. These areas have been designated because they have similar resource concerns and will allow applicants to be considered and evaluated with applicants that have similar land uses and resource concerns.
There are five Montana CSP Geographic Areas:
Mountain West CSP Area (Missoula Area)
Golden Triangle CSP Area (Great Falls Area)
Yellowstone CSP Area (Bozeman Area)
Eastern Montana Plains CSP Area (Miles City Area)
Nonindustrial Private Forest Land (statewide)
See the 2009 Montana CSP Geographic Area Map for a larger map and list of counties within each CSP area.
