2014 Agricultural Water Enhancement Program
With the enactment of the Agricultural Act (February 7, 2014) funding provided for the Agricultural Water Enhancement Program (AWEP) in FY-2014 is no longer available for obligations. NRCS will honor and continue to support fiscal year 2014 AWEP program contracts using the rules and policy that was in effect at the time of contract obligations.
If you are interested in applying for water enhancement projects in programs, please visit the Regional Conservation Partnership Program web page.
The Agricultural Water Enhancement Program (AWEP) was a special opportunity for conservation partner groups under the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP). Financial assistance was set aside nationally for approved AWEP proposals from partners groups and organizations that propose water conservation or water quality improvements on agricultural lands. Once the Chief of NRCS approves a partner’s proposal and announces selection, the agricultural producers within the project area submitted an EQIP application for the AWEP funding directly to their local NRCS office. A primary intent of AWEP was to leverage other non-Federal resources along with NRCS program resources to achieve program objectives. While partners were not required to provide financial or technical resources towards a project (match), proposals that include or offer partner provided resources were given higher priority consideration in the evaluation process.
