Kevin Kennedy, Area Conservationist, Greenwood, MS
Kevin Kennedy was a 1980 graduate of Smithville High School in Monroe County, MS. He attended Itawamba Junior College from 1980-1982. Kevin completed his education at Mississippi State University in 1984 with a degree in Agriculture Extension and Education.
Kevin Kennedy started his career with this agency in 1983 as a student trainee in Booneville, MS. He became a soil conservationist in Batesville, MS in 1984. He served in that position for three years then became the district conservationist in Marks, MS in 1987. He has also served as the district conservationist in Canton, Indianola, and Charleston, MS. In Greenwood, MS, he served as an Area Resource Conservationist in 1995.
As an Area Conservationist in Greenwood, MS, he manages the thirteen Mississippi Delta Counties. His duties include administering a wide variety of programs such as Wetland Reserve Program (WRP), Conservation Security Program (CSP), Mississippi River Basin Initiative, Migratory Bird Habitat Initiative, Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program (WHIP), Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) and the Agriculture Water Enhancement Program (AWEP).
