Subject: FNM – Transitioning to No-Till Silage Corn Workshop

Purpose. To announce a Transitioning No-Till Silage Corn Workshop.

Expiration Date. September 30, 2011

Background

Maine Cooperative Extension and NRCS have partnered to host a Transitioning to No-Till Silage Corn Workshop as a follow-up to the No-Till and Cover Crops Workshop held in December 9, 2010. It will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Governor’s Restaurant in Waterville, Maine from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm.

The keynote speaker is Joel Myers, No-Till Consultant from Pennsylvania and former NRCS Agronomist. Joel presented a workshop at the Fogler Farm in Exeter, Maine in 2008. See the attached Agenda and Registration form for topics and speakers.

Please inform interested producers about this workshop.

Pre-registration for this workshop is required by February 21, 2011. Please register with Maine Cooperative Extension on-line at http://www.umext.maine.edu/Waldo/ag/notill.htm

You must indicate that you are an NRCS employee so that you will not be charged the registration fee. NRCS will be billed directly by Extension for those in attendance. You are responsible only for the $5 fee if you wish to partake in the lunch.

NRCS employees are authorized to attend on government time and expense with supervisor’s approval. Please travel together to keep the use of government-owned vehicles to a minimum. As always, if lodging is required, you must get approval from your supervisor and via GovTrip Authorization.
