Subject: LTP – Conservation Programs Training on March 30 and 31, 2010

Action Required By: March 12, 2010

Purpose. To provide information on attendance for Conservation Programs Training being held on
March 30 and 31, 2010.

Expiration Date. September 30, 2010

Conservation Programs Training is scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, March 30 and 31, 2010. This training is intended to provide field staff with the knowledge and ability to manage administrative and general programmatic responsibilities.

The training agenda is being developed and will be sent to you soon. Topics will include a review of the updated Conservation Program Contracting Manual (Part 512), new features in ProTracts, applicant eligibility screening and other pertinent topics. Please send discussion topic suggestions to Susan Arrants by C.O.B. March 12, 2010. These will be accommodated as time permits.

The training will be held at the Spectacular Events Center, 395 Griffin Road in Bangor, Maine (next to the State Office). The following is the schedule for the training:

March 30th, Tuesday – 10:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.
March 31st, Wednesday – 8:30 A.M. to 2:30 P.M.

Attendance is required for all District Conservationists and Field Office employees working with programs. Additionally, District employees assisting in NRCS program delivery are welcome to attend. Please email the number of people attending from your office to Debbie Gray at debbie.gray@me.usda.gov by C.O.B. March 12, 2010 so that final arrangements can be made.

NRCS employees in the following offices are approved for overnight travel; Scarborough, Oxford, Warren, Lewiston, Farmington, Machias, Houlton, Presque Isle and Fort Kent. Employees should travel together as much as possible to conserve energy resources and to keep the use of government-owned vehicles to a minimum.

The per diem rate is as follows: Lodging - $70 plus tax and MI&E - $46. The maximum per diem rate is $116. Hotel arrangements should be made on your own.
