NRCS Announced Grant to Help Farmers and Ranchers Adapt to Drought


USDA NRCS has announced the availability of up to $5 million in Conservation Innovation Grants to evaluate and demonstrate agricultural practices that help farmers and ranchers adapt to drought.  Grant applications are due October 15, 2012.

Applications Being Accepted for Conservation Initiatives


Agricultural and forest producers have an opportunity to submit applications for funding through five conservation initiatives under the Environmental Quality Incentives Program--On-Farm Energy, Organic, Seasonal High Tunnel, Irrigation and New England/New York Forestry initiatives.  The application deadline is December 21, 2012.

Maine NRCS Provides Grants to Four Maine Recipients


NRCS has announced the award of more than $158,000 in Conservation Innovation Grants (CIG) funds to four Maine recipients--Windependence dba Community Energy Partners, LLC; Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association; Maine Rural Partners; and Holly Miller of Hope's Edge Farm.
